Humans and societies function within cycles that are mirrored in the sky by the locations of the planets and the Moon going around the Sun. Just as it is possible to consider the basic personalities of the people invited to a party and predict what kind of party might result, it is possible to use planetary analysis to anticipate the qualities of the human social field on Earth during a given period of time. Astrology can predict how individuals might be feeling, just by knowing the archetypal influence of each planet plus the Moon. Just like a wild rock-n-roll dance party is very different from a black-tie dinner party, life on Earth is very different during wartime than it is during peacetime. Astrology also states clearly when an influence begins and is finished; this makes it possible to look back or go forward in time to identify patterns. Meanwhile, the Elite (powers-that-be that control the world) debunk astrology while using it as a tool to predict human behavior to perpetrate their power games. This site observes how some global political powers use astrology to stay one step ahead of the people. Astrology is the highest art for analyzing human behavior, and smart people use it. AstroFlash! looks at how the Elite might be planning events for us during the end of the Mayan Calendar, and it offers tips on how to live better amidst such transformative times. Also, this astrological analysis includes the influences of the Days and Nights of the Galactic Underworld-1999-2011, based on Carl Johan Calleman's time acceleration hypothesis, which explores Nine Underworlds of evolution in the universe over 16.4 billion years. AstroFlash! explores how individuals can succeed and be free and happy during the remainder of the Mayan Calendar. How have we gotten to this critical juncture? Why are 1999 through 2011 so critical for the survival of our species? My recent book Catastrophobia (2001) theorizes that we are afflicted with a crippling, species-level, post-traumatic stress syndrome that I call "catastrophobia". This trauma complex developed 11,500 years ago as the result of a great cosmic catastrophe in our solar system. This malaise in the collective psyche of our species deepened during thousands of years after the 9500 BC cataclysm, when our ancestors endured starvation and horrific environmental stress. Before this time during the Regional Underworld-100,000 BC through AD 2011--Earth was the Garden of Eden; we experienced oneness with our planet. These events that separated us from nature are deeply buried in our minds. Just like adults who once endured early-childhood abuse that they've largely forgotten, we must heal ourselves by recovering these memories and understanding how they have changed us. Catastrophobia presents evidence that Earth's axis did not tilt very much before 9500 BC, when the cosmic disaster disarranged the whole solar system. Therefore, AstroFlash! is structured by seasonality--equinoxes and solstices-because once the axis tilted, early humans quickly learned how to maximize their potential by arranging their lives by the seasons. Seasonality is not taken into account much in modern times, but it actually has a huge influence on human consciousness. George W. Bush invaded Iraq exactly during the Spring Equinox of 2003 because the Elite knew this moment had formative potential. This was also Day Three of the Galactic, so this invasion caused events that will influence the rest of the Galactic Underworld. Once Earth's axis tilted 11,500 years ago, the new seasons necessitated agriculture for human survival, and gradually hunter-gatherer cultures gave up their ways of life that were in harmony with nature. Focus on the seasons and lunar cyles goes way back to more than 10,000 years ago, which is why AstroFlash! examines them in detail. I've discovered ancient ways to balance our consciousness by showing how to use the potentiality of each season with intention. I believe that we must utilize the potential of this quarterly pattern to slowly integrate our neurological systems with the changes caused by the recently tilting axis. Like Humpty Dumpty falling off his wall, we can't put ourselves back together again. We can use the cycles of the Moon to master our emotions very effectively when the lunar analysis is understood in light of the four seasons. This technique really helps us handle time acceleration. The great cataclysm disarranged the solar system and greatly disturbed many planetary patterns. For example, Uranus tilts 90 degrees on its axis. Uranus rules cultural transformations, and by its foundation chart, the United States is very influenced by Uranus. Now that we are moving into the Age of Aquarius, which Uranus rules, the USA is poised to become the global empire. AstroFlash! incorporates the birth chart of the USA in 1776, which is in the Methodology which follows. The ancients discovered they could assess politics realm by examining the conjunctions of Jupiter and Saturn every twenty years-the Trigons. The current Elite, the "Bushites", seized the agenda of the recent May 2000 Trigon. This has enabled them to run the show during the Galactic Underworld, so this site examines their obvious use of astrology. It offers advice on how individuals can get out of the way, as the so-called "leaders" create mass-trauma events, such a 9/11. These things are done because they stimulate catastrophobia and fear. AstroFlash! breaks the four seasons down into three lunar cycles within the context of major planetary transits. I offer some lunar and seasonal chart comparison with background charts (see Methodology) by means of combust (less than 1 degree by conjunction) aspects. We begin with how you can master seasonality. This is written for people north of the equator, yet if you live south of the equator, just reverse summer and winter. The New Year is not January 1st! The new year-the Spring Equinox-occurs around March 21, when the Sun enters 0 degrees Aries by geocentric astrology. For Earth, this is when the Sun is directly over the equator. Then it tracks north until it reaches the Tropic of Cancer at 0 degrees Cancer during the Summer Solstice around June 21. Then it turns back and crosses over the equator at 0 degrees Libra during to the Fall Equinox around September 23. It moves south of the equator until it reaches the Tropic of Capricorn at 0 degrees Capricorn on the Winter Solstice around December 21. Then the Sun seems to move north again for its return to the equator for the next Spring Equinox. Of course, the Sun only seems to move in this pattern from Earth's view, since the phenomena is caused by the tilt of Earth's axis as it orbits the Sun during a solar year. The modern calendar abuses our conciousness! The time to make plans for each year is during the Spring Equinox, not during the so-called "New Year". The most philosophical and spiritual time of the year is the Winter Solstice, which is reduced to addictions and consumerism by Christmas shopping, eating, and drinking. In fact, December 21st to March 21st, the last quarter of the year, is our yearly completion time. The special days and nights right before the Winter Solstice are the most mystical time of the year, and we should meditate for hours during this time. Then when the Sun is in Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces before the Spring Equinox, we should be deepening our understandings of all the things we have learned during the last nine months-the previous Spring Equinox to the Winter Solstice. The Spring Equinox is the time to identify the intentions we wish to fulfill during the four seasons. Ideas correctly seeded at the Spring Equinox manifest for a year, and I will offer instructions for correctly seeding ideas and manifesting them through the rest of the seasons. During the Summer Solstice, the time has arrived to birth these ideas into recognizable form, like a forming fetus. The Fall Equinox is the time to flesh out, balance, and assess these creations and to weed things out that just are not working. Then the Winter Solstice is the time to enter into deep contemplation to imagine how our personal creations assist others and the planet. The Winter Solstice is the time to be brutally honest and evaluate whether our ideas enhance others or whether they may actually be detrimental for evolution. A sweet elixir of knowing comes the day of the Winter Solstice when the light begins to return, and each one of us can put greater realities above our personal desires. It is no accident that in Western cultures commercial Christmas is inserted just when people are amazingly psychic and attuned! I suggest you cancel Santa Claus during the Winter Solstice and spend three months reflecting on what you've created during the year. 2009 Winter Solstice: December 21, 2009 / View Chart The Sun has moved into Capricorn, and we celebrate the Winter Solstice north of the equator, the time when the solar light returns. Since the dawn of human consciousness, the Winter Solstice is the most spiritual and contemplative time of the year. Regardless of the conditions in the collective world, this is always a time of deep renewal for each one of us. This year's Solstice chart describes a collective dark night of the soul. We need to clarify our personal perspectives to make our minds into perfect instruments for cutting new paths in the world during 2010. We have all chosen to be here now. By choosing to live during such trying times, we can attain high levels of personal integrity. So far, the nine-dimensional model is the best tool I've discovered for achieving subtle states of consciousness. For example, if you want to avoid feeling totally stuck this winter amidst the wild slings of fate inspired by Mars retrograde in Leo, you can adopt an 8D viewpoint-true ethics and moral purity-regardless of what's going on "out there." By adopting this 8D stance, you will easily embody your 6D ideal self, and you can navigate 3D perfectly. Of course, 4D will vacillate back and forth between the dark and the light, the yin and the yang, while you will hold your power in 3D. I quote Cicero from The Laws to emphasize how this process works: "Power and law are not synonymous. In truth, they are frequently in opposition and irreconcilable. There is god's Law from which all equitable laws of man emerge and by which men must live if they are not to die in oppression, chaos, and despair. Divorced from God's eternal and immutable Law, established before the founding of the suns, man's power is evil no matter the noble words with which it is employed or the motives urged when enforcing it. . . Men of good will, mindful therefore of the Law laid down by God, will oppose governments whole rule is by men, and, if they wish to survive as a nation, they will destroy that government which attempts to adjudicate by the whim or power of venal judges." Translate: The Law is 8D and the power complexes are 4D, and these days the bankers can be substituted for the Roman governments of Cicero's time. Michael Moore deftly established in his film, Capitalism: A Love Story, that the bankers have carried out a coup d'etat in the US. Because 4D has almost totally subsumed 3D, your 8D value senses are being shredded right now, and the experience is very troubling. My reading for the Winter Solstice will analyze this dilemma and offer new ways to live in this distorted field; life was terrible during the Roman Empire and it is terrible now. The Solstice chart shows that this repeat of the world empire pattern will be tested this winter, even possibly undermined. As most of you know, we are now well into Night Six of the Galactic Underworld [see The Mayan Code: Time Acceleration and Awakening the World Mind], and the astrology for this Solstice is a clear and marvelous reflection of our world before the dawn. The chart for the Winter Solstice sets up a field in the global collective that will be very influential all winter, especially since Mars goes retrograde a day before the Solstice and then goes direct close to the Spring Equinox. As usual, America has decided to play empire and try to rule the world, so I will give this country more attention than it deserves. Actually this is not to be avoided, since the first thing that stands out in the Solstice chart is the Moon in 27 Aquarius-which is conjunct the Moon in the 1776 USA Founding Chart in 27 Aquarius! And, the Moon is close to the Triple Conjunction-Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron-in Aquarius. Also, Barack Obama's lunar South Node is 27 Aquarius. These three combust placements in 27 Aquarius mean that this Winter Solstice period as a reckoning time for American values with Obama playing out a past-life role in the foundation of these values. As we look at national issues, we require a clear perspective on what this chart means to each one of us. It helps to think of 4D as the reading of the collective, and of 8D as a personal, ethical challenge. In that sense, the times ask us to seek the best in ourselves, and this winter will be a time when we will be forced to face some challenging truths. Looking at the stellium in Aquarius, we are now in the last hot zone, the alchemical cauldron of Jupiter's expansion of Neptune's spiritual breakthroughs inspired by Chiron's healing of deep wounds. This process was intense from May through July of this year, and now it has returned for the last time. Jupiter exactly conjuncted Chiron on December 7, and Jupiter is conjunct Neptune right during this Solstice. What could be more mystical than Jupiter conjunct Neptune during the Winter Solstice, especially in Aquarius? Jupiter's conjunction to Neptune expands the personal healing that you experienced right around December 7 (when Jupiter was conjunct Chiron) into very high mystical access. This potential is why it is especially worth it to take the high road-8D-instead of being a reptile in the crowded 4D pit this winter. It is possible to be very content and blessed during the return of the light, but not if you are an old saurian playing survival-of-the-fittest. The healing and mystical fields activated by the Triple Conjunction are very emotional this winter because the Moon in 27 Aquarius has just moved over Chiron, Neptune, and Jupiter just before the return of the light. This winter, few of us will avoid being deeply changed by this last Triple Conjunction activation because it is coming through our feelings. The Moon's conjunction to each planet in the Triple Conjunction just before the Winter Solstice triggers new information about our deepest wounds as our boundaries to the mystical realms melt away, while Jupiter expands us into the highest 8D states of mind. Jupiter rules the Law, the natural Law that Cicero speaks of, and accessing this 8D state of mind is the only way to be happy and joyful on this planet. This Solstice is a remarkable challenge to each one of us, and we are being asked to take our stand: What kind of partner, parent, lover, colleague, child, ecologist, artist, and cook are you? What were your intentions during the 2009 Spring Equinox and how are you doing with them? How do they fit into the collective, the greater field? Viewing this stunning quadruple conjunction from the collective perspective, what pops right out is its opposition from Mars newly retrograde in 20 Leo. Mars went retrograde the day before the Sun went into Capricorn, a turn in the sky that is ominous for world events. When the world economies and political structures are moving forward in relatively positive ways, Mars retrograde can be an excellent time for reflection, the pause that refreshes. But, these days, world economies are struggling to avoid disaster, and the whole world is locked into an East/West struggle that is causing constant warfare and deep depression. Mars, which often increases male aggressive tendencies, went into in Leo in mid-October, just when the US was digging a deeper and deeper hole for itself in Afghanistan. The US will dig in even deeper as Mars retrogrades until March 10. With Mars in Leo for around seven months, the blind are forced to lead the blind with little thought about the consequences in the long run. With Mars opposite the Moon in Aquarius (as the Moon conjuncts the 1776 USA Moon, Obama's South Node, and the Triple Conjunction), the collective mind will be obsessed with war. This obsession could ultimately result in dire financial collapse caused by constant warfare. Sometimes we have to lose everything before we learn anything. As the Sun goes into Capricorn and conjuncts Pluto three days later, this aspect sheds light on the real truths that haunt our minds; we are fed by the Underworld where we can find ultimate renewal. In the middle of this massive collective insanity, what are you dedicated to? What is the real meaning of your life? You must ask this now, or nothing is going to make much sense. After all, the Sun/Pluto conjunction closely squares Saturn in early Libra, the judge who demands you take your stance. We are now in the early stages of the 2010 cardinal transits-Uranus and Jupiter in Libra/Pluto in Capricorn/ and Saturn in Libra-that will force us to go beyond processes that we've been stuck in for a long time. For example, long protracted wars that are going nowhere will not work in 2010, and the rats that garroted the economy will be running out of the ship. 2010 will be a year of reckoning about resources and war, and Saturn-square-Pluto conjunct the Solstice Sun says the real truth will come out this winter. The skunks have released their scents, there is no time for them to refill their sacs, and so the black side of reality will be visible. Remember, you are in your integrity in your personal reality regardless of what is exposed-unless you are one of the boys at "Gold Man Sacks" or one of the other Wall Street firms. Venus in 25 Sagittarius sextiles the Moon/Triple Conjunction in Aquarius, which suggests feminine wisdom is expanding our mystical access. I felt like calling this reading "Warrior Contemplations" when I noticed the Mars opposition to the stellium in Aquarius. Well, Mars also widely trines Venus in Sagittarius, the freedom key in this chart, so, I did some thinking about warriors. I am very anti-military when any military becomes a multi-generational system of mercenaries; the citizens are forced to pay for them while the politicians use these pawns to increase their own power. But, the warrior who truly protects and defends at the highest level is an agent of the Law, the natural law. Perhaps this Venus placement means there will be deep thought about when war is justified? This possibility is reinforced because Venus widely trines Mars in Leo. Venus closely squares Uranus in Pisces that went direct December 1. Uranus in Pisces since 2004 has been causing deep and moving spiritual transformations in all of us. We have learned to consider the true basis of reality in new ways, and Carl Calleman leads the search for a more meaningful understanding of the universe and Earth's role in it. Just as Uranus went direct in Pisces and headed for its passage into Aries in May 2010, Carl gave us The Purposeful Universe, possibly the most brilliant book of all time. Carl makes it possible for us to see the spiritual basis of our lives, and to know that we matter. Mercury in 20 Capricorn is closely conjunct the lunar North Node, which adds depth and seriousness to this winter. Many more of us will see how our personal gifts are part of the common good. When the North Node is in Capricorn, we search for practical and ethical ways to do things in life, and we let go of too much security for the greater good. Mercury on the North Node is exactly quincunx Mars, newly retrograde in Leo. This helps us to see that every action we take has far-reaching consequences; we think about our impact on others. Because Mars is in Leo and retrograde, we have strong wills and fortitude this winter. Many people will show their true colors, and this will be inspiring in some cases. Mars is really going to be a complex factor this winter. While the god of war is retrograde, we will tend to think instead of act. Mars opposes the Moon/Triple Conjunction, quincunxes Mercury conjunct the North Node in Capricorn, and Mars trines Venus. These aspects to Mars are so subtle, complex, and intense that almost all action could be tied in knots until March 10, when Mars goes direct. All the planets (except Sun/Pluto square Saturn) are resonating with each other because they are located in the last 20-30 degrees of their signs. This will cause the winter to feel like a pin ball game in which everything is bouncing off everything else-yet Mars retrograde stops the action. When things are locked up, life can feel very frustrating, so this is a winter to start with philosophy and meaning and not to expect much action. In light of the influence of Night Six, this winter may see a series of falling dominoes-stocks, commodities, value of money, wars, and blocked legislation. It will be hard to create new things that will last. Yet, Saturn in Libra squares Sun/Pluto, which makes us feel like the hammer is about to come down. Having things stop and get stuck is often what happens when a lot of things have been created too fast and irresponsibly-as they have since 1999 when the Galactic Underworld opened. The world is stuck in a series of quagmires, life feels stagnated, and an oppressive reckoning is building. Is there any way out of this mess? Can we see any light as the light returns? The central thread in this exceedingly complex Solstice chart is visible if we focus on the lunar South Node in 21 Cancer. Suddenly what pops out is that the Moon conjunct the Triple Conjunction sextile Sun/Pluto/Venus forms a strong yod to the lunar South Node in Cancer. Yods are best understood by imaging them as a dousing rod: The planets in the sextile are the rods we hold in our hands, and the placements opposite the sextile represent the power point of the rod seeking water, seeking nurturance. Yods always accomplish meaningful results, even though their actions are very internal and hard to observe. Yods represent inner changes in each person that shift reality on the surface. The yod from the Moon/Triple Conjunction sextile Venus/Sun/Pluto to the South Node in Cancer means the deepest healing and mystical access this winter is drawing power from nurturing experiences in the past-times when we got through hard times and found community again in spite of stupid politicians and power mongers. This yod exists because so many planets and the lunar nodes are in the last degrees of their signs (the pin ball affect), and amazingly, there is a second yod! Uranus in 23 Pisces sextiles the lunar North Node conjunct Mercury in Capricorn, and this sextile shoots a yod to Mars retrograde in 20 Leo. This means that the current spiritual transformations that are pushing us to new evolutionary paths (Uranus) are in a powerful alliance with evolutionary agenda of becoming a new species (Pluto/Sun/Venus), and they are drawing power from transcending our identity as warriors (Mars). This is a really big deal because the wars we are struggling with are creations of the National and Planetary Underworlds during the last 5,125 years. Massive warfare did not exist before that, and during the 100,000-year-long Regional Underworld, we worked in community in different ways. The Regional Underworld imprint is longer and deeper than the National and Planetary Underworlds. During the Galactic Underworld since 1999, our consciousness has been evolving out of solving problems by using warfare, and a new global unity through communications is evolving within our species. This yod to Mars means we will experience great inner growth that will eventually make our species more peaceful-a movement will take over the collective field during 2011. To summarize, this winter will be a time of the deepest and most formative transformation of our species. Many old ideas, communities, and individuals will not be visible when the spring arrives. This winter is a time of pruning, of removing old growth so that new shoots can come forth. I would advise you to work on these two yods by holding the planets in the sextiles in your left and right hands while you access the power of the dowsing rod-the lunar South Node in Cancer for accessing past nurturance, and Mars in Leo for finding ways to use power with positive actions. Aquarius New Moon: February 13, 2010 View Chart It is the New Moon in Aquarius, the ultimate time for creating your own reality during the yearly cycle of 13 new moons. Aquarians are said to be independent, creative, changeable, and unique, which is frequently true. Yet, the challenge for any Aquarian is to be grounded and to have an open heart, since the ruling planet of Aquarius-Uranus-makes Aquarians over-energized, abstracted, and mental. During this New Moon, each one of us is especially challenged to access this creative and transformative part of ourselves, because the Chiron/Neptune conjunction (exact on Feb. 16) is exactly conjunct the New Moon. It would be wise to remember that intense self-discovery can take you out of your body, which separates you from the powers of your heart. This is the yearly Aquarian challenge for everybody, but this year's Aquarius New Moon offers a quantum leap in creative potential. This New Moon offers the central creative program, not just Aquarian software. As this potential comes into our world, the collective field is undergoing deep structural change during the second Saturn upper-square Pluto on January 31, which was right after the Full Moon in Leo conjunct Mars. The signature themes are now becoming clear-the gargantuan 3.8 trillion dollar US federal budget; failing war and security efforts; the impending collapse of the global housing industry; stress in the Japanese auto industry; and the probable failure to achieve comprehensive health care in the US. As Saturn's retrograde square to Pluto hammers the world, most Americans realize that the American middle-class dream is over. Financial security was garroted on rifle butts, smothered in expensive prescription drugs, and destroyed by excessive mortgage debt. These hard Saturn/Pluto aspects are the key right now; Saturn forms and structures reality while Pluto destroys things that are no longer useful, following the cycles of evolutionary change for economies and social systems. World economies moved out of recession in 1982/3 when Saturn conjuncted Pluto, and these economies accelerated during the great boom of the '80s and '90s. This expansion broke when Saturn opposed Pluto in 2001/02, and slowed even more when the US persuaded many countries to invest in endless war. Now with the upper square occurring after almost ten years of global fears, unpleasant truths are emerging: Millionaire politicians out of touch with the public have frittered away the wealth of the United States, which could trigger global bankruptcy. The American budget proposals, with no end in sight to spending, reveal there is no room for any domestic initiatives, even if wars were abandoned now. Ironically-speaking of activating your own central creative potential-this economic and political disaster means you have to do just that! People have less and less to lose all the time, and so more will break free and discover what they are actually capable of. You create your world-not banks, politicians, or the military. The New Moon in 25 Aquarius is combust (less than 1 degree) the Chiron/Neptune conjunction, which will be exact on February 16. Therefore, the lunar seed or theme is the full revelation of Chiron conjunct Neptune. In my 2009 readings, I focused constantly on this "Triple Conjunction"-Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune in 25/26 Aquarius-because it was the central astrological theme. The conjunction of these three planets in close range during most of last year inspired a gigantic healing and spiritual crisis in most of our lives, which has fundamentally changed us. Chiron rules the deepest wounding complexes in our body/minds, Neptune rules access to spiritual planes by our souls, and then Jupiter's activation of this wounded spirit complex expanded this species-level crisis to the universal level. Considering what the Pleiadians think of Earth right now, they are appalled by how you blow your bodies to bits and end up living in bodies with missing limbs. Meanwhile, well-paid city planners create more handicapped zones for wounded bodies. Do not be naive about the distraction being created by these bizarre programs that could cause your species to stop valuing normal physicality. Your potential to become a loving and peaceful species grew during the Triple Conjunction. Jupiter's "push" opened multidimensional doorways that offer humankind new solutions; a good example is the remarkable film Avatar that has a thrilling central theme of a paraplegic regaining his legs. The tragedy in Haiti was the greatest manifestation of the Triple Conjunction: Chiron as deep wounding, with Neptune expressing the ardent religious fervor of the Haitian people, and Jupiter representing the expansion of their plight to the whole world. Three days after the New Moon, the exact Chiron/Neptune conjunction will enable you to identify your own way to a major healing-which can be a key to unlock the doors to total access to spiritual wholeness. These days the outer world convulses in astonishing chaos and pain caused by earthquakes, East/West violence, and global financial instability. The New Moon conjunct Chiron/Neptune pries open pathways to spirit because so many people know they cannot survive in such traumatic realities. This wild group in Aquarius insists that what matters is what you are personally doing, not the collective madness. Are you available to your elders, your children, and your colleagues and friends, or are you spaced out on Face Book? Being grounded is especially critical for Americans, since the New Moon conjunct Chiron/Neptune is right on the USA 27 Aquarius Moon, as well as right on the lunar South Node of the American president, Barack Obama. An excellent astrologer, Art Gianfermo, brought to my attention that Pluto is in 24 Aquarius in the chart for the formation of the American Stock Exchange in 1792. This strongly suggests that stocks could be negatively affected by this New Moon. Also, Saturn in 4 Libra is transiting the lunar North Node of the Stock Exchange Chart. Since Saturn squares Pluto while it transits the Stock Exchange North Node, fundamental changes are about to come for investors. For example, how is the middle class going to even be able to invest in the future? Investors, be careful-many transits in cardinal planets are building up for the so-called "Cardinal Crunch" this summer. Also regarding 26 Aquarius, Neptune was in 26 Aquarius when the planet was first discovered in 1846! During this New Moon and the Chiron/Neptune conjunction on February 16, Neptune is experiencing its return, which will complete the spiritual trends that began in the 1840s. If we go back to the time of Neptune's sighting, we find people experimenting with mediumship; hypnotism was discovered; and the theosophical movement began. These movements were all based on the premise that we are not separate from spirit, and that we can develop skills to be in touch with spirit. For those of us accessing nine dimensions and other multidimensional studies these days, we are accessing galactic and universal consciousness. Barriers to other worlds are breaking down, and the key to these breakdowns is always Uranus, which is in the sign that rules Neptune, Pisces. The planet of transformation, Uranus, is exactly 30 degrees beyond Chiron/Neptune conjunct the New Moon. This is not a strong aspect, but Uranus rules Aquarius, so this increases Neptunian resonance with the New Moon complex. While in Pisces, Uranus subtly emphasizes that the really meaningful transformations are spiritual and not physical. Uranus has been in Pisces since 2003 and moves into Aries in March 2011 (after a brief sojourn into Aries during June-August 2010), so we are in the final stages of mastering its spiritual potential. Uranus rules our creative development over 84 years and transits each sign of the Zodiac for 7 years, the famous "seven-year itch." Every seven years, a new creative theme is worked out in culture, and as individuals, we each change greatly at ages 7, 14, 21, 28, and so on. Many cultures feel that a child first becomes an adult at age 21, which is the first Uranus square. Collectively, the 84-year cycle begins with Aries and ends with Pisces, so now we are poised at the end of a Uranus cycle and a new beginning in Aries. Thus, this culmination in Pisces is the collective spiritual maturation after growing through many levels since 1927, the last time Uranus was in Aries (which was just before the Great Depression). If you reflect for a moment, you will notice that you have become much more spiritually inclined since the 1960s, when Uranus entered the latter signs of this cycle, and now we are experiencing the final stages of spiritual breakthrough. This New Moon expresses this story dramatically with the New Moon/Chiron/Neptune also in happy resonance with Uranus in Pisces. And, Jupiter is now in Pisces, which is awakening compassion and spirituality and expanding the final stages of the 184-year-long Neptune discovery phase. The grouping of the New Moon/Chiron/Neptune in late Aquarius followed closely by Venus/Jupiter in early Pisces certainly draws the eye. We can feel that something momentous is coming, and I note that there were many rumors about secret negotiations with the Taliban of Afghanistan and Pakistan during the second Saturn-square-Pluto. Hmmm . . . Meanwhile, my more-complex eye is drawn to two thought-provoking "Yods" in this New Moon chart (a "Yod" is the finger of God in Arabic astrology). Pluto sextile Venus/Jupiter is in a Yod to Mars retrograde, and Saturn sextile Mars is in a Yod to Venus/Jupiter. These are very tight Yods. If you recall, there were two potent Yods in the 2009 Winter Solstice chart that have already demonstrated their powers, as I discussed in the reading for the previous New Moon. So, let's talk about Yods, since few people understand them and few astrologers pay much attention to them. Yods are quite rare during New and Full Moons and seasonal charts, and so they should be scrutinized when they occur during these intense passages. Also they rule deep inner psychological processes, the source for the ability to make real changes in our lives. ln my own work as an astrologer, I have found Yods pack a wallop on the scale of grand squares and T-squares. I don't know whether Arabic astrologers would agree that they are this significant. But, since the best source on Yods is Arabic astrology, I suspect Eastern astrologers value them as I do. Of course, Yods have two quincunxes in them, and Western astrologers do not pay enough attention to quincunxes, the aspects that push us to do things we are resisting. You can image the finger of God as God's finger pointing at the meaningful issue, with God's body shooting its power through this finger. Since current male-dominant descriptions of God are so disempowering, I like to describe Yods by using the dowsing rod as my model. Dowsing rods are metal tools used to detect the location of water. The "dowser" holds the two rods that hold a bent rod in a slip that allows the two rods to move freely. Holding the rods in his hands, when the holder's cells feel water, electrical signals in the dowsers hands cause the rods to draw together to form a double quincunx-the Yod-that points the rods to the water source. They really work! Imagine yourself as a dowser holding the energy of the two planets (or more) in a sextile and then allow that energy to flow out of your hands to the opposite point, the head of the Yod. Of course, you can only do this by comprehending and feeling the quality of each planet in the sextile, while you imagine holding them in your left and right hands. Then as you shoot this force out to the head of the Yod, you can feel how its impulses, pushes, and activates the planet at the head of the Yod-that is, assuming you can feel the qualities of the planet at the head. It sounds complicated, so, let's just do it. Then we can look at how these powers affect the New Moon/Chiron/Neptune in Aquarius, which is the theme of the New Moon: totally activating your creative potential now. Venus/Jupiter in early Pisces plays a pivotal role because it is the right hand of the Yod to Mars, and it is also the head of the Yod coming from the Saturn/Mars sextile. Like a caduceus, this double role greatly intensifies both Venus and Jupiter, especially Venus, which is less than one degree from its aspects to Mars and Saturn, very close aspects indeed! Taking a glimpse at what's been going on lately with Venus, Venus was conjunct the Sun during the December 31 Cancer lunar eclipse; combust the Sun during the January 15 close solar eclipse; and conjunct the Sun during the January 29/30 Full Moon. These were the eclipses and Full Moon that facilitated our movement into our collective dark night of the soul that was initially set up by the field of the Winter Solstice. Therefore the role Venus is playing must be carefully watched, especially in the actions of these two Yods. See yourself standing very erect with your feet grounded in Earth. You are holding Venus/Jupiter in 3-6 Pisces in your right hand, and Pluto in 5 Capricorn in your left hand. Pluto in Capricorn is pushing us all to completely transform the structures in our world, while Venus/Jupiter conjunct in Pisces inspire us to melt into total spiritual immersion. You are holding a force in your hands that has been overturning the major world religions by opening spiritual reconnection with Earth, the central goddess. As you hold these forces in your hands and feel them in your body, shoot that great energy out to Mars retrograde in Leo. Like the rerun of a bad movie, Mars retrograde in Leo is dragging the human race back through all its recent dregs of war, chaos, dominance, and greed. This is a part in us that swills in our own emotional and mental excrement until we can't stand it anymore-so just climb out of the pit! The people in Haiti, struggling to escape the hell they've lived in for so long and being hauled out of rubble, with the recalcitrant West warring against the stupefied and barbarized East, perfectly express this energy. The ego in you that refuses to let the past go so that you can be refreshed to discover a new world expresses this force. Feel how the relentless force of Pluto in Capricorn crumbles walls and exposes financial and military corruption, as the Earth expands herself with Jupiter's masterful powers. Indeed, the Finger of God is pointing to and melting the real problem, too much martial energy wasted in killing and destruction instead of resources used for protection and building new realities. Now, for the second Yod. See yourself standing erect again with your feet firmly on the ground. You are holding Mars in Leo in your left hand, and Saturn in Libra in your right hand. Mars retrograde in Leo is dragging us back through experiences of using energy badly and being too much in ego; and Saturn retrograde in early Libra is pushing us to deepen the balance and harmony that we achieved November 2009 through mid-January 2010. During this short period, it looked like the world economy was recovering and the old order would be salvaged. Now the great changes are coming on strong again, we are being asked to find new paths. You are holding an energy force in your hands that can show you how to balance power and aggression in your life so that you can regain the full usage of your protective powers. Saturn is asking you to remember the real potency of Mars, which has created civilization and families and life itself. As you hold potent, sextiled Mars and Saturn in your hands, shoot this force out to Venus/Jupiter in Pisces, two players standing together to rebirth the goddess and expand beauty in our reality. Venus/Jupiter plays the role of pointing us to choose Earth first, to expand ourselves in beauty, while also being the right-handed power pushing Mars to rise out of his patriarchal rut. For fun, let's call this the "Avatar Yod". As best you can, feel these forces through your hands, and feel the powers that you can actually direct in your reality. Hold the feeling for these very real forces during the New Moon. Note that there is still another planet aspecting the Yods that we just played with: Mercury in Aquarius, which functions as the ultimate activator of the Yods. Mercury in 5 Aquarius closely opposes Mars retrograde in 4 Leo, while it trines Saturn retrograde in 4 Libra. Mercury encourages extremely challenged Mars to use intelligence first for a change, while Saturn in Libra is being inspired with new creative visions of new ways to create structures in the world. To summarize this very complex and potent New Moon chart: The collective world will feel very chaotic and undirected, while individuals will wake up mind-bending inner creative powers, especially those who have planets in 3-6 degrees of any sign. If you do, you may feel like you are in the middle of a pinball machine with lights and sound going off while somebody is shaking and tilting it to boot. The early Greeks always said, "Know Thyself." Well, perhaps they were right. The key background charts and planetary cycles that I consult for AstroFlash!
